Spring is in the Air

Spring is here in the Pacific Northwest, if you look at the abundance of flowering trees in bloom, daffodils and tulips... If only the weather would cooperate. Beautiful sunshine one day, followed by cloudy skies and sideways rain the next. It is one of my favorite times of the year though, when Winter is on its way out, and Spring is busy bringing our dormant landscapes back to life. I spent some time in the Skagit Valley this weekend, and it was truly a beautiful sight to see field after field of tulips in bloom. Huge expanses of red, yellow, purple and orange. O'Shaughnessey's Irish Heritage

It seemed appropriate to share photographs from a family trip to Ireland seeing that today is St. Patrick’s Day.   One of the objectives of the trip, besides seeing this beautiful country, was to find out more about our Irish ancestors. My family name is O’Shaughnessey (which became Shockney once the relatives landed on American soil )… But once we were in Ireland and heard how the name was properly pronounced, it was easy to understand how the American version came to be, like it or not.   My family roots are in Galway, a lovely city on the west side of Ireland on the River Corrib. Tally Ho!

The Woodbrook Hunt Club will celebrate it’s 90th Birthday in 2016. The club is located in Lakewood, Washington.The Hunt Club’s season is in full swing. Led by Huntsman Jennifer Hansen, horses and houndswalk, trot, canter and gallop over hill and dale, through the woods and across the fields… Beginning in the Fall and commencing in the Spring.
