Equestrian Style - Jackie Kennedy Onassis

Jackie Kennedy Onassis Equestrian Style Icon

Every Halloween I search for elegant, chic costume ideas. This year, I pulled from my favorite equestrian style icons and Jackie Kennedy Onassis came to the top of the list. Beauty, poise and confidence, she had it all. I'll be hunting for the perfect vintage two-piece suit or cream cable knit turtleneck sweater to pair with oversized dark sunglasses, pearls and perfectly styled hair.

Jackie's mother put her on a horse when she was just one year old and as she grew up, riding became a vital part of her life. As she struggled with the intense pressures of her role as First Lady, and later in her life, as a mourning widow and reluctant celebrity, riding offered Jackie an escape from it all. If you want a more intimate look at Jackie's life and love of riding, I suggest picking up The Private Passion of Jackie Kennedy Onassis: Portrait of a Rider by Vicky Moon.

Who is your equestrian style icon? More importantly, what are you going to be for Halloween?
